1106 - The Houston Story

This film was gritty at its best. In this version, the climactic scenes are done over more explicitly. Mildred is going to run away with the money, but the boss surprises her. Anne (RyAnne) is an innocent bystander. But she gets shot in cold blood just to intimidate Mildred.
Then Thad takes Mildred for a fatal drive, shoots her twice and dumps her out of the car. (Spectacular scene). Turns out she's still alive on the ground, so Thad shoots her a couple more times. Later Hank comes wandering in the woods and finds poor Mildred, for a not-quite exploration of the poor deceased... (Then the full-color version follows! (the photos are in color, but you get both the moody black/white version of the film and the color one.)
The Houston Story is classic noir, but this is redone in a more graphic manner. The gang boss wants information on Olive Glass' boyfriend. She finally gives in after RyAnne is killed, but then, she winds up dumped out of the car by the roadside, dead.
